Welcome to Parents’ Place
Parents’ Place is a completely parent-run non-profit organization that provides educational programming and support to preschool children under five and their caregivers. Our program offers a truly unique experience.
Unlike traditional drop-off preschools or daycares, while children learn, socialize, and play in the classroom, parents and caregivers gather in the Parent Room where they can form connections and gain support of their own.
We offer four classrooms: Baby, Toddler, Preschool, and Kindergarten Readiness. Additionally, we offer a “baby and me” program: Morning Music Circle.
Parents’ Place operates Monday through Friday from 9:30am - 11:30am. While we are located in the downstairs of Spruce St. UMC, we are a non-religious organization.
I love talking to other parents and learning from one another. I wish I would have known about Morgantown Parents’ Place sooner!”

History
Parents’ Place was founded in 1982 by a group of child birth educators as part of a grant at WVU. The program was intended to be an outreach program in conjunction with Parents Anonymous.
Beginning with only a few members, Parent’s Place quickly blossomed to twenty members. Meetings were held in the Sunday school room of the Presbyterian Church downtown. The two hour meetings were loosely structured. While the children played together, parents discussed parenting issues such as discipline, diets, and potty training. Occasionally, students majoring in Child Development attended the meetings to play with the children. Snacks were provided on an alternating basis by the parents.
The organization has continued to grow and be molded to meet the needs of its members, including changing locations within Morgantown, the creation of more formal learning environments for the children, and expanding to include more members. Despite its evolution over the years, Parents’ Place continues to support families and provide resources to its members.
Today, Parents’ Place is run by a volunteer Board of current members and serves over 50 families in the greater Morgantown area. Members collectively operate the organization and fund it via tuition and fundraising.
Preschool classes run Monday through Friday, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., with most members attending one to two days a week. Parents’ Place is staffed with five caring teachers who are all current or former members that truly understand how special this organization can be.
Morning Music Circle
If you’re little one is not quite old enough to enroll in a Parents’ Place classroom, consider our Morning Music Circle program. MMC serves children aged one or younger.
Parents and caregivers remain with their child and participate along with them.
