About Our Teachers
There are five classrooms at Parents' Place and each teacher has been carefully selected. We feel extremely fortunate to have these dedicated, insightful, and experienced instructors working with our children. Below you will find a brief description, written by the teacher, of their experience and classroom philosophy.

Yumiko Wilson (2 year old room)
I will provide opportunities for your children to explore! I studied Children's Education at Toyoko Seitoku College and received a Teaching Degree. I then taught kindergarten in Toyoko, Japan. I also taught kindergarten as a teacher's aide in Washington State. While I was living in Houston, Texas, I taught the 2 and 3 year olds at church school for a few years. When I moved to Morgantown, I enrolled in the Early Education Program at WVU and studied for an additional year and a half. For the past few years, I have been involved in the development and preparation of a Japanese Language Program for elementary schools in Monongalia County. I have also been teaching with the WVU's Special Education Summer Program, Summer Fest. My association with Parents' Place began as a member (mother of three) and this will be my 15th year on the teaching staff.
In class, I try to provide a secure and loving environment where children can enjoy new experiences and their associations with others. Some time each day is spent with structured activities involving art, music, story or movement. The children are encouraged to become involved with these activities, however, I believe free-play activity is still of great value to children this age.
Kelly Mascola (3 year old room)
I am thrilled to be the newest addition to Parent’s Place as the teacher of the 3-4 year old class. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages and another in International Studies from WVU and am currently pursuing an M.B.A. from Wilmington University of Delaware. Outside of Parent’s Place, I coach for West Virginia Aquatics, a year-round swim team in Morgantown, where I train swimmers ages 4 years of age and older. I also run the Fall and Spring 7-week French Foreign Language after school programs at Cheat Lake Elementary.
I hope to maintain a fun and friendly atmosphere in the classroom while offering various levels of interaction to ensure everyone enjoys their time and gains the most from their experiences at school. We will continue work on recognizing the letters of the alphabet, the children’s written names, numbers, shapes, and colors. We will also work to develop key concepts such as manners, respect, and listening well. Each day, the children will have free play, as well as circle time where we will have show & tell, sing songs and read stories, make crafts, and do simple activities to reinforce the learning goals. My passion for working with children and my creative thinking should make working at Parent’s Place very exciting and enjoyable!
Michelle Vorndran (4 to 5 year old room)
Michelle moved to Morgantown eight years ago and upon recommendation she joined our preschool with her two daughters. For the past eight years she has spent her time raising her daughters and ten years before this she was an elementary school teacher. In the last year she has been a substitute teacher for area preschools, including Parents’ Place and volunteering at the Cheat Lake Library. We want to welcome Michelle back and are excited to have her as a teacher.
