“I have felt a supportive community since the first day of Parents' Place.”

Mission Statement

Our mission at Parents’ Place is to provide a community of support for caregivers and their children in a preschool environment that prioritizes emotional development alongside educational progression by including parents in the day-to-day operations of the school. Our focus centers on fostering children’s creativity and building self-esteem in a resource rich, play-based environment.

We are a village of parents and caregivers that respect individual family values and wish to provide our children with an elevated early education experience in a comfortable, easy transition, non-drop off setting.

Why Non Drop-Off?

Parents' Place is unique in that it is the only non-drop off preschool in Morgantown. Unlike traditional drop-off preschools or daycares, while children learn and play in the classroom, parents and caregivers congregate in the Parent Room. We believe this offers a gentler transition for young children and parents alike.

For your children:

  • Children gain independence being in a classroom setting without Mom or Dad - but if they are needed at any point during class they are always available. This approach can be a more gentle way to introduce your child to the joys of a school atmosphere.

  • Our teaching staff provides a caring and safe environment in which our children can develop socially and work on their cognitive and gross/fine motor skills. They build confidence, make friends, create, and most importantly play!

  • Each age group’s curriculum and each of those activities are infused with basic preschool concepts (i.e. colors, letters, numbers, reading and writing). Learn more about each classroom under the Enrollment page.

For the Parents:

  • This is a great opportunity for parents to take a break from the demands of parenting and seek support from others. Many of our members’ closest friendships began at Parents’ Place.

  • Many (but not all) of our families have at least one parent that stays home and these parents are typically the ones that attend the programs. Whether it is helping plan activities or fundraisers, being in the classrooms to aid teachers, or just offering an ear and advice to a fellow parent, having a focus outside of our stay-at-home duties provides many of us with a sense of accomplishment.

  • We also bring in outside organizations and businesses to present on various topics that relate to parenting.

Children’s Programming

Outside of normal school hours, we host many playdates for our members and the community. The playdates are often themed and are in support of different activities that are happening throughout each term.

We work to partner with members of the community that help facilitate our playdates, such as the WVU School of Occupational Therapy, the WVU School of Dentistry, and WIC. We also love to set-up at events within Morgantown that offer activities and information for those families with preschool-aged children.

Spruce St. Playgroup

We also partner with Spruce St. Playgroup throughout the year. SSP offers enrichment, playdates, story time, and fun for families with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
